Quaint little cafe, tucked away from the usual hustle & bustle of the Somerset area. My first time trying vegan food, so I was not sure what to expect. To my pleasant surprise, the food was really delicious, and I also enjoyed my time at the cafe. We got the Peanut Tempeh Sandwich, Mushroom Knife-cut Noodles Stir-fry and the Loaded Tater Tots. I love mushrooms and leafy greens, so I was already anticipating the Noodles to be quite yummy (which it was!). The noodles were al dente chewy and paired well with the rest of the ingredients, including the tempeh slices. What I wasn't expecting though, was how yummy the Peanut Tempeh Sandwich was! I thought the sandwich was going to be just average, but it was surprisingly really good! Even my bf agreed that it was really good! The sandwich bread used was a nine grain toast, and it was soft and nice. Unlike the common multi-grain breads, which are usually quite dry and hard. I really didn't expect myself to quite like the sandwich, as I am not really a "sandwich person". So I highly recommend it! The Loaded Tater Tots was abit of a surprise as well. I didn't think that kimchi mayo and korean seaweed would go well together with the tater tots. In fact, I was in two minds about ordering it, but the bf just went ahead to order it. Surprisingly, the seaweed gave the dish an added fragrance and crunch to the tater tots, and the kimchi mayo was tasty enough without any overpowering kimchi taste. Just when I thought I was already too full to eat anymore, my eyes wandered over to the gelato display, and i got curious over the flavors available. Especially the flavor of Berry & Hibiscus Sorbet. So even though we were already quite full, we knew we just had to try the gelato. I was also wondering how vegan gelato would actually taste like, since no dairy products would be used. I chose the Berry & Hibiscus flavor, and the bf chose the Black Sesame flavor. Both flavors tasted pretty much like normal (dairy) gelato. The Black Sesame flavor was very smooth and actually tasted comparable to the Japanese ones. But the Berry & Hibiscus flavor wins hands down, it was both bf and mine's favourite! It was not too sweet, and tasted kinda refreshing! We also had a nice chat with the friendly staff, who educated us more about vegan foods, and how the cafe operates. The cafe even offers private dining and events options! As it was nearing the Lunar New Year season, there were vegan pineapple tarts and sesame cookies for sale too. The cafe also has a little merchandise corner, with vegan bakes & snacks for sale too. We got to sample the Chia Waffle Chips with our gelato, and I liked it so much that I decided to buy a pack home. We were at the cafe on a Friday late afternoon, and it was a nice experience, as there was no crowd, and we took the time to enjoy the quietness and cosy atmosphere of this little cafe. Not sure about the crowd situation over the weekend, but the staff told us it can get pretty filled up. So if you prefer to enjoy a relaxing moment at the cafe, perhaps better to head down on a weekday instead. We arrived at the cafe, not knowing what to expect, but left feeling very satisfied and happy. This visit to Lilac Oak really helped to change our minds about vegan food (especially for the bf). And we are looking forward to our next visit!

The staff at lilac oak was really friendly and introduced the festive menu to us! We loved the cosy, bright space and the lovely ice cream display. In terms of food, they offer so many healthy vegan options, it was hard to choose. The plating was beautiful and the food tasted really clean and light on the palate. Great spot for brunch!

Wow I didn’t know that vegan food can be so yummy too! The house-special bibimbap with sweet potato rice and mushroom knife cut stir-fry noodle was amazing! Portion was generous too! Not forgetting the house made waffle with organic pure maple syrup, perfect to end my meal! Oh their signature iced matcha oat latte is a must try too! I will definitely be back and introduce it to my friends! Minimalist and clean environment to dine in! Staff were friendly and full of smiles!

A lovely and cosy vegan cafe. We had tried the simple tofu sandwich, bibimbap, and the mushroom knife-cut noodles stir-fry etc. The knife-cut noodles was my favourite. The noodles were nice, smooth and very tasty 👍👍😋 The iced matcha oat latte was really good too 💚 Highly recommend! For more details, check out IG: @laurilovestoeat 🙂

Its a small cosy cafe with super friendly staffs and definitely an awesome dining place for a fully plant-based meal! I've tried the Lasagna and i love it! The salad at the side was really crunchy and refreshing, making it a wonderful match with the lasagna. The sandwich was a little bland for me. The mango sorbet is really refreshing! The matcha oat latte is unsweetened by default (could be sweetened upon request) but I quite like it as it is! If you are looking for a vegan cafe, this is definitely one that you can try out!

Cosy cafe serving delicious wholesome vegan items. It's our second visit to L.O. we love their homemade waffles and gelato The selections were simple yet flavourful. We tried their bibimbap and guchujang rose penne and mushroom tofu ciabatta. L.O. also serves up seasonal menus like their recent Christmas menu and seasonal bakes. Currently, they have some cny bakes for sale like their vegan pineapples tarts and sesame cookies. Do make reservations as their tables get filled up, especially during the peak timings.

How could anyone miss out this hidden cafe in town on Oxley Rise? LILAC OAK A great escapade for afternoon tea with excellent choices of food and desserts. Nice ambience to host my friends from Texas for a great catchup session. They were surprised when I mentioned to them that the menus are vegan.
